Both GiraffeGirl and my other half have got some long hours to put in this week for work, and since we all carpool, that has me putting in some extra hours in the office as well. Fortunately, GiraffeGirl finished up a tad early today, and we headed out to try to grab some caches before we had to pick up Mr. lindathome. Sadly we didn't have a clear plan, but definitely wanted to stay with urban caches due to our work attire, the soggy conditions due to all the rain lately, the heat, and our lack of time.
We scoped out options, and headed to Minard #1 (GC1349) by Dale Minard. I dipped HappyCow (TBGET6) here to snag a visit for her to Kansas. "GiraffeGirl made the find on this one. One caution for future cachers - the road that this trail borders is extremely busy (although it looks residential). We found it easiest to park at the Lutheran Church, but be very careful crossing the street." - GiraffeGirl apparently picked up a few ticks here, but didn't know it until she got home. I've decided she just doesn't have enough garlic in her diet. I pick up ticks from time to time as well, but NEVER find the bugs that she does.... thankfully!
Second stop was Minard#3 (GC290F) by Dale Minard. This cache, which was converted to a virtual apparently after having been muggled several times, led us to an absolutely beautiful neighborhood park. You would have to know where it is to find it, it's not one you could just stumble upon while driving through neighborhoods because it is so very well hidden. I snapped some pics, and enjoyed our very brief time here, but didn't realize that I needed to pay attention to the sign in order to get the actual word to 'claim' the find - but thankfully my picture is dated and clearly shows GiraffeGirl at the park - she also snapped a pic of me while we were there, so we're claiming it. I also dipped HappyCow (TBGET6) here for drink. "Ok, GiraffeGirl and I were here, and LOVED LOVED LOVED this little park. Such a beautiful secluded little area. However, we did not read far enough to know we were going to need to get a word off of the sign for the certificate, and I can't remember what it said....BUT...I took her picture, and she took mine...so, we're claiming the virtual find. I would sooooo come back here for a picnic and relaxing. This hits the list as one of my favorite hidden areas in the city. TFTC"
