What is the deal with this Rocket100 guy? Well, I'm assuming it's a guy. Someone who has no profile, has recorded no cache finds, appears on the scene, placing a 'cache' ... just seems creepy and dangerous to me. I'll be watching to see what happens, but I, like several others, are in no hurry to be the first person to the hunt.
I pray there isn't some nut case out there trying to cause drama.

A Perfect Cacheless Saturday
Ok, well, despite a totally crappy evening following a totally crappy week - I was awakened by my spousal unit to an invitation to get breakfast at Waffle House, followed by riding our bikes at Watkins Woolen Mill State Park, and GeoCaching. For whatever reason it took me over an hour to actually respond, wake up, get up, and verify that the invitation still stood. Amazingly - it was true. We've had these bikes for a year - standing in the dining room - and have never used them. But now - they were loaded in the family truckster - road-ready. And so - with caching gear in-hand (hmmm, desperately trying to remember if the WWSP caches were loaded in the GPSr... not to worry, have the trusty GPS phone w/me that will have it anyway) - we were off. We both decided it would be best to ride first, and eat second. We stopped at a convenience store in Kearney for the necessary water, grabbed some cereal bars for a quick snack, and headed to the park. A GORGEOUS day - cloudy but perfect temps, nice breeze without being windy. We unloaded the bikes, and hit the trail (WHY is the caching backpack sooooo heavy). I immediately questioned our sanity when I remembered 4 things.... I'm obese, and soon to be 41, and a smoker, and haven't been on ANY bicycle in at least 20 years. BUT - we survived, and were never lapped by walkers or other bikers. Unfortunately, as I had suspected, A Wild and Wooly Cache (GCKHN4) was not loaded in my GPSr, but did show up on my phone - but somehow throughout the ride we never got what I would call close to the cache on the bike trail, nor did I see what was an obvious intersection of a hiking trail with the bike trail that would lead to the direction of the cache. I may have just missed it, but we ultimately came up cacheless today. Truly enjoyed the trip around the lake, and can see why it attracts so many family bikers... with any luck, we will return. After the ride neither of us found the thought of Waffle House attractive anymore, but boy doesn't a sub sandwich sound like just the ticket. After a quick stop at the Subway on North Oak, we were back home, and ready for naps.

Saturday Cruisin
I needed to head to N. KC (which is ironically South of the part of Kansas City I live in) to get some supplies from the tobacco store on Armour Rd - and I knew there were a few caches in the area - I also knew I'd be making the trip alone, which allows me some time to do some hunting, but not a lot.
Tail End Charlie (by bizjtplt) - GCGWC7
Found really easily - looked around a bit - and replaced the cache.... well, no, of course it wasn't that easy. I knew it was going to be a really easy cache, so I just wandered away from the car with no pen DUH... so, took the whole cache back to the car and just took my time. Signed the log, left a MO Hawthorne coin, and walked back over and put the cache back where I had found it. -- Although, I just realized I dated the log the wrong date (9/28/07).
Drove down to Avondale (near N. KC Hospital - have never really explored this area of town, kinda cute. Scoped out a couple more caches (Rock Creek - GCG2CW and the KCCC & STJ Interurban - Avondale Bridge - GCY0K8), but felt it better to leave them for another day as time was already ticking and I needed to get to the grocery store.

Perfect Sunday for Caching
Trio of Fore (by Cytex) – GC12NY5
Had a grand plan for the day - mapped out several caches I thought would be easy enough on this beautiful day to reach another mini-milestone (70) - and then was tempted to try a few more Cytex caches (silly, silly girl). Came here first today - found Stage 1 with no trouble (thinking to myself, 'see, this won't be so bad after all - you're getting the hang of these Cytex caches') - then on to Stage 2 ... wandered in about a 10ft square area for almost an hour, and found nothing... nothing I tell you... and thus, my Cytex GeoTorture curse returns.
Fountain Tour – Zona Rosa (by Cytex) – GC140NK
Second attempt on a beautiful day - probably not a good choice on a day when there's an outdoor Art Festival blocking a majority of the interior streets - and bringing THOUSANDS of people (muggles) into the mix. I tried to be stealthy looking for stage one, but there was some creepy guy staring at me... so I abandoned... and thought I might find stage 2 just by the clue, but didn't spot anything on the sly. Failure 2 of the day.
Final Approach from Mexico City (by Cytex) – GC12RWR
Perhaps I was in the mood for some serious Cytex torture today, or I'm just becoming delusional (believe me, vote for the latter half of that statement) - but the car took a wrong turn and led be back out to this one today. I arrived with a renewed vigor, and decided I was staying to find this one or else... or else... or else I'm camping out here until the next cacher comes along, then I'm hiding to see where they find it... there is no pride loss here, really. BUT - the Geo Stars were aligned for me - I walked right up, found it, logged it, and walked away, as though I hadn't spent long tedius visits here before.
Fountain Tour – Shoal Creek Parkway Fountain (by Cytex) – GC13MQY
Find #2 of the day - phew, ok... I'm hitting at 50%... acceptable for me. Pretty fountain - couldn't get a good pic (camera on my phone not cooperating in this light). I truly do enjoy these fountain caches - it's a water thing with me :) TN - L MO Hawthorne Micro Coin & itty bitty Ladybug.

Second Sunday of Redemption
T - TheCachingPlace.com pinL - 1 Kookys animal koosh pen & Red Holiday Lights geocoin (TB1DDNH)
Boomerang Bug's Home Base Cache (by Stewy) - GCHBNM
DID NOT FIND - Ok, Ok, I know - this is an easy one - except when you're just not really all that confident in your GPS skills yet - and you are desperately afraid of walking through the wrong yard, etc. Wyatt and I were going to hit this one on our way back from finding Cache Register this afternoon, and circled the block several times, even went down the alley, hoping to spy the bucket from the car for reassurance. I am almost 100% positive we were scoping the right house - but want to make a second pass (or maybe a third, or fourth, or fifth) just to be sure. I was even hoping to find a Boomerang Bug flag or hint somewhere??
Lots of firewood - do you deliver ???? :)
Maple Shade (by FullQuiver) - GCGVXX
Second visit - and apparently no one since my last log. Gently getting my nephew (9 years old) hooked... I made him use the GPS himself to get headed in the right direction. He found it without too much trouble. Despite the pic - he really was happy!
T - Micro carL - bag of rubber gators & fishes
Thanks again!

Travel Bugs for Hire (by cjtj) - GCHWYY
2nd visit - 2nd nephew HAD to see where it was. He found it without any trouble - he's becoming an expert cacher!
He was THRILLED to find some swag more to his liking in this one (such a boy).
T - Tennessee Jed cards (not sure what his fascination was with those), Nascar schedule, Red Flashlight - he didn't mind there weren't batteries, MOHAW coin.
L - Wild Goose Chase coin (TB1G79J), Krazy Koosh animal pen, The Hawgs Travel Bug (TB18QNV)

First Friday of Frustration
Ok, on occasion the male spousal unit gets to leave work early because of a certain sales goal met, earned time off, etc... and I get to go along for the ride because we are soooooo eco-concious that we carpool (um, no... we only have one vehicle that's road-worthy). So... we get home shortly after noon, and I have grand plans of trying to find some local caches... I mean after all, there are so many so close to home, how hard could it be, right? I have to say that I was overconfident and underskilled as a result of my first find, which was super easy for me... and thus the First Friday of Frustration commenced. Went 0 for 4, ending the day still at a total of 1 find.... pitiful
Stick to it (by Cytex) - GCW5BY
Ok, even though previous posts indicate that the log @ the cache site was likely missing, this one is so close to home I had to try - to no avail. I'm going to have to travel back over there again to really think about what the 'Stick to It' means, log or no log.
Barry Platte Park (by SunshineWalker) - GCY6X4
This was my second DNF today - and leading me to believe I clearly am not good at this... this was supposed to be an easy one. The neighborhood dogs seemed to be telling me I was clueless, literally, as I could not even locate stage one. Seems the park bench that may have been part of the first stage is being replaced?
Line Creek (by flintknapper) - GC1618
DNF #3 for the day... although had I been a bit more prepared (waterproof hiking boots are on the shopping list) and braver I may have made it to this one. I've passed by this park many times, but never stopped... it was very nice, peaceful - interesting Native American Indian area near the far southern end of the park (please don't disturb anything). However, I attempted to ford the creek, without luck, too chicken mostly (alone, still recovering from a broken ankle a couple of months ago - unsure of my surroundings). Anywho... very nice park - hope to make it to the promised land another day.
Oakwood Forest (by KaiserKlan) - GCNRP9
Fourth and final DNF for the day - but a very interesting walk through the woods. Surely the neighbors around here are immune to seeing people scattering about down in the sticks? Found a couple of places where it is clear that either kids are building forts, or sadly, perhaps even homeless have spent a night or two - one location looked rather lived in.
I clearly did not find 'the easy way in' the others have spoken about - but I'll still keep this one in mind on another day when I've found my confidence again.

FIRST FIND
No travel bugs or Wales coin. Log indicated several other visits just a day before, so perhaps they just haven't logged the find yet?

Once Upon a Time ...
I can't remember how I heard about GeoCaching, but at this point I believe it to be fate. My first official find was Sunday, March 11, 2007 - but I had been researching and doing Google Earth reconassaince for some time before heading out to find number 1 - GCHWYY - Travel Bugs for Hire, at the I-70 rest area near Concordia. I was sooooo excited to find it without much trouble - and I was hooked. It didn't take long for my neices and nephews to become interested, and they now frequently ask when we will go 'treasure hunting' again. Of course, I take them as often as I can. Sadly - I have a much more difficult time convincing my husband to join me on these adventures - even though he seems to have some sort of built-in GPS cachers sense - and has found all but one before me, when he accompanies me.
